Every Journey Begins with the First Step.
Begin Your Journey to Connection on the Calm & Connected Path
You love your horse deeply…
so why does fear or doubt keep getting in the way?
You dream of those quiet, connected moments—
where you and your horse breathe together, understand each other, trust each other.
But instead, you hold your breath.
You second-guess yourself.
You lie awake replaying what went wrong.
What if the problem isn’t your horse—
or even you?
What if you don’t need to push harder…
but choose a gentler path forward?
This is not about fixing your horse.
It’s about learning how to feel safe together.
You’re Not Alone in This
If you’ve ever felt:
💔 Anxious when your horse spooks—and guilty for feeling that way
💔 Like everyone else is braver, more skilled, more “natural” with horses
💔 Torn between loving your horse and feeling afraid of them
💔 Exhausted from trying method after method that ignores your nervous system
💔 Like you’re failing your horse because you’re not calm enough
I see you.
I’ve been you.
And I created The Calm & Connected Path because everything changed when I finally understood this:
Your horse doesn’t need you to be fearless.
They need you to be present.
Introducing: The Calm & Connected Path
A step-by-step journey from fear and disconnection to presence and partnership—designed specifically for sensitive women with sensitive horses…but great for anyone working with horses!
This isn’t another training program that tells you what to DO with your horse.
This is a transformational process that helps you learn how to BE with your horse—calm, grounded, and confident in yourself.
How The Calm & Connected Path Works
Step 1: Start Your Journey (Free)
Download The Missing Peace
A free guide to understanding why your presence matters — alongside good training — more than you’ve been led to believe.
Download The Missing Peace and explore a simple but often overlooked truth:
while trainers can teach skills and techniques, your horse also needs the steady influence of a calm, aware human — especially in everyday moments that training alone can’t address.
This free guide is not a replacement for education or horsemanship.
It’s a reflection on how you show up — and why your emotional awareness plays a meaningful role in your horse’s sense of safety and understanding.
Inside this free guide, you’ll discover:
- Why your horse needs more than technique — they need relationship and consistency
- How to show up soft, steady, and aware (even when you feel unsure)
- The small, practical shifts that support calm connection at any experience level
If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t think I’m what my horse needs,” this guide offers a gentler, more honest place to begin.
Step 2: Build Your Foundation (14 Days – $12)
Begin your 14-day journey with the Calm & Connected Guided Practice Journal.
Each day’s practice helps you:
- Regulate your own nervous system (so your horse can regulate theirs)
- Notice subtle communication before it becomes a shout
- Build trust with yourself first, your horse second
- Have a plan for what to do in an emergency when fear shows up

Can’t Wait? Here’s What I’m Using Right Now. While I’m creating horse-specific meditations, I’m personally taking the Ultra Presence Quest by Juan Pablo Barahona through MindValley.
One of the most common issues I hear back from people is not truly understanding what it feels like to be present. I love seeing the ‘ah ha’ moment on their faces!

WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS APPROACH
Built for Sensitive Women with Sensitive Horses
This Isn’t About:
- ❌ Becoming braver overnight
- ❌ “Fixing” a “problem” horse
- ❌ Replacing good training or horsemanship
- ❌ Mastering complicated techniques
- ❌ Spending hours at the barn every day
- ❌ Ignoring fear and “pushing through”
This IS About:
- ✅ Building trust with yourself first, and your horse alongside that
- ✅ Understanding nervous system regulation as a foundation—not a philosophy
- ✅ Noticing subtle communication before it turns into tension or confusion
- ✅ Having tools for when fear shows up (because it does—for all of us)
- ✅ Discovering that sensitivity can be a strength when paired with awareness
Hi, I’m Debbie

This is me with my mare, Mama — Thor’s mama — or “Beautiful,” as she prefers to be called.
She came to me highly defensive… and pregnant. She became one of my greatest teachers.
I’m a horsewoman who spent years believing I wasn’t brave enough, skilled enough, or calm enough for my sensitive horses.
I worked with trainers. I tried method after method. Some things helped. Many of the “doing” approaches made my horses more guarded. And what I couldn’t find was guidance on how to be with them — except from the horses themselves.
I kept hearing the phrase “be present.”
But no one explained what that actually meant in real, everyday moments.
“Just stop thinking,” people said.
But I didn’t know how. I was very good at doing. Being was harder.
Everything began to change when I realized this:
my nervous system was shaping my horse’s experience of me.
When I learned to regulate myself — not perfectly, but intentionally — my horses began to feel safer. Not instantly. Not magically. But consistently.
Now, I help women like you build calm, connected relationships with their horses — not by replacing training, but by supporting it with presence, awareness, and partnership.
Because your horse isn’t waiting for you to be perfect.
They’re waiting for you to show up — aware, steady, and willing to listen.
That’s where real connection begins.
Common Questions
Q: I’m a complete beginner. Is this for me?
A: Yes. The Calm & Connected Path meets you where you are. You don’t need riding skills, special equipment, or years of experience—just a willingness to show up and learn.
It’s also well suited for experienced horse people who sense that something needs to change, or who’ve found that familiar methods aren’t working with a particular horse.
Q: What if I don’t own a horse?
A: That’s okay. Many people work with leased horses, borrowed horses, lesson horses, or horses they visit at rescues. The inner work—awareness, regulation, and presence—remains the same.
Q: Is this “natural horsemanship”?
A: It shares values with gentle, ethical horsemanship, but this is not a training program or method. It’s a relationship-centered practice focused on your nervous system and awareness, designed to support good training—not replace it.
Q: What if my horse is dangerous?
A: Safety always comes first. If your horse displays aggressive or unpredictable behavior, work with physical boundaries (such as a fence or stall door) and seek guidance from a qualified professional. These resources can support you emotionally and mentally, but they do not replace expert help when safety is a concern.
Q: How much time does this take?
A: The 14-Day Journal is designed to take about 15–20 minutes a day. The Toolkit includes flexible options, including brief practices for busy days. You choose the pace that fits your life.
Q: Do I need special equipment?
A: No. Just yourself, access to a horse, and a willingness to practice awareness and presence.
Q: What if I miss a day?
A: There’s no punishment for pausing—only an invitation to return. Life happens. Simply pick up where you left off.
Q: Is this backed by science?
A: Yes. This work is informed by nervous system regulation, equine learning theory, habit formation research, and trauma-informed approaches to horsemanship and human development.
